Tips for Getting Started

Every business is different but every business can find a way to get involved and volunteer.  There are numerous ways for businesses and their employees to volunteer in their community and the key is to find which opportunities work best for your organization. Some ways your company can get started and get involved could include the following:

  • Have employees submit information on organizations they already volunteer with.
  • Give employees set time per month or quarter to volunteer.
  • Let employees create team, department or company volunteer projects.
  • Partner with larger companies with established volunteer programs.
  • Read local papers see who is asking for volunteers and signup.
  • Call local organizations and simply ask how you can help.
  • Hire a community outreach coordinator.
  • Establish a fund to support a local cause.
  • Start an annual event to support a local organization.
